She’s the last in a long line of wild beekeepers\, eking out a living farming honey in small batches to be sold in the closest city – a mere four hours walk away. Hatidze’s peaceful existence is thrown into upheaval by the arrival of an itinerant family\, with their roaring engines\, seven rambunctious children and herd of cattle. Hatidze optimistically meets the promise of change with an open heart\, it doesn’t take long however\, before a conflict evolves that exposes the fundamental tension between nature and humanity\, harmony and discord\, exploitation and sustainability. \n  \nAwards: 31 wins\, 43 nominations \nNominee\, Best Documentary Feature/Best International Feature Film\, Academy Awards\, 2020\nWinner\, World Cinema Documentary/Cinematography Award\, Sundance Film Festival\, 2019\nNominee\, Best Documentary Feature Film\, Alliance of Women Film Journalists\, 2020\nWinner\, Best Documentary\, Boston Society of Film Critics Awards\, 2019\nNominee\, Best Documentary\, Chicago Film Critics Association Awards\, 2019\nWinner\, Most Compelling Living Subject of a Documentary\, Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards\, 2019\nNominee\, European Documentary\, European Film Awards\, 2019\nWinner\, Bet Cinematography/Nominee Best Director and Best Feature\, International Documentary Association\, 2019 \n  \n[embed_video video_site=”youtube” video_url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B27ORUHlp6E” video_width=”640″ video_height=”360″ ] \n  \nTickets are available online By Clicking Here\, or at the Uptown Theatre during the festival (Feb 20-23\, 2020). SUMMARY:Into the Canyon - 7PM
DESCRIPTION:[col_one ] \n \nScreening:\nThursday\, February 20\, 2020 – 7:00 pm\nSaturday\, February 22\, 2020 – 8:30 pm\nUptown Theatre\, 55 Dunlop St. W.\, Barrie \n  \nDirector: Peter McBride\nWith: Kevin Fedarko and Peter McBride\nDocumentary\, PG\, 84 minutes (USA) \nIn 2016 filmmaker/photographer Pete McBride and writer Kevin Fedarko set out on a 750-mile journey on foot through the entire length of the Grand Canyon. From the outset\, the challenge was far more than they bargained for. More people have stood on the moon than have completed a continuous through hike of the Canyon. McBride and Fedarko took a sectional approach\, achieving a feat that many adventurers have taken decades to complete. Others have lost their lives trying. But their quest was more than just an endurance test – it was also a way to draw attention to the unprecedented threats facing one of our most revered landscapes. \nAwards:\nWinner\, Best Feature-Length Mountain Film\, Banff Mountain Film Festival\, 2019 \n  \n[embed_video video_site=”vimeo” video_url=”https://vimeo.com/255637699″ video_width=”640″ video_height=”360″ ] \n  \nTickets are available online By Clicking Here\, or at the Uptown Theatre during the festival (Feb 20-23\, 2020).
